Run by Survivors for Survivors

Our Approach

Our Mission

We are a community of like-minded people and professionals with a mission to provide peer support to survivors of sexual assault and prevent sexual violence through education, and promote healing through holistic healing practices.

Our Vision

We envision a world free from victim shaming in which survivors can raise their voices and unite. A world where there is no stigma attached to sexual assault.

We STAND by our imperatives:

Honour the Individual

Personal Empowerment

Ignite Bold Change

Heart Led Community

Establish inclusivity, treat everyone as an equal, and hold a safe space, both experientially and physically, for our service users for as long as they may need.

Encourage others to find the courage to be vulnerable and learn how to empower themselves to live the life they want.

Support individuals to care for, love, and be themselves boldly as they shift from victim to empowered survivor of sexual assault.

Create relationships built on love, compassion, and empathy free of judgment, bias, and stigma.

Acknowledgement

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, STAND ASA both honours and acknowledges Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.

This sacred gathering place provides us with an opportunity to engage in and demonstrate leadership on reconciliation. Thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment to join our team on the lands of Treaty 7 territory.
