Men’s Support

You Don’t Have to Go Through This Alone

We provide confidential and anonymous peer support to anyone 16+ of all backgrounds and socio-economic status: Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+, immigrant and new Canadian, people of colour, disabled, survivors of neglect, abuse, sex trade, war, and torture.

Peer Support

Our one-on-one peer support sessions are designed to help men who’ve experienced sexual violence find solid ground, rebuild confidence, and move forward with strength, purpose, and a renewed sense of self.

You’ll be matched with a Peer Support Mentor—someone who’s been through something similar and gets what it’s like. It’s not about therapy or fixing you. It’s about talking to someone who understands, who listens without judgment, and who’s walked their own road to recovery.

Each session is completely confidential and anonymous. You can access up to 18 one-hour calls—on your own time, from wherever you feel safest.

This is about taking back control. One conversation at a time.

We’re here when you’re ready.

Tylor's Story

Being impacted by my own experience with sexual assault led me to a life of self destruction, becoming addicted to crystal meth for over 10 years as my solution to the pain and the shame I felt within myself. As my addiction progressed, my circumstances grew more desperate. I found myself homeless which led me to crime as a way to support my need to escape reality through substance use.

In 2019, I went into treatment for my addiction. I learned quickly that it wasn’t the drug use I needed to overcome, but the traumas of my past that caused me to use substances in the first place. For the first time, I told somebody what happened to me. I spoke my truth and it was the scariest thing I have ever done – to say the words “I was sexually abused.” It was also the key to recovering from not only my addiction but also the weight that I had spent my life carrying on my own. I was not judged, I was supported through the love and compassion of others who challenged my inner beliefs that this experience was my fault, that I had somehow caused this to happen.

Physical health is one of the keys to my recovery journey and led me to join a boxing gym. In 2024, I attended an event at the gym that was raising funds for STAND. At the event, I met Erin and felt drawn to share my story with her. Following our meeting, we knew we had to work together and expand the support STAND was already providing. I am now a peer support mentor with STAND and am blessed to be able to provide a safe place for men to talk about their experiences. As men we tend to hide these types of experiences because of the stereotype that “this doesn’t happen to men,” but this just is not true.

I am grateful to work with STAND and to give the same compassion and love to others, that was given to me. For anyone who has experienced this type of trauma, know that you are not alone, it is never your fault and STAND is available to support you in a safe and compassionate manner. When you are ready, reach out and allow yourself the opportunity to heal. You do not have to suffer in silence any longer.
