Nourish healing by providing a variety of healing mind and body yoga sessions as well as other holistic approaches to healing.
Healing is something that is ongoing, some days are harder than others. What may help one survivor, may not help another. We aim to provide several different approaches to continue to nourish healing while on a journey to recovery.
S.T.A.N.D. is now offering healing mind, body and soul yoga sessions once a month for survivors and supporters free of charge. This program provides a safe space for survivors and supporters to continue on a path towards healing. Trauma can be held in the body. With repetitive, slow mindful movement and conscious breathing techniques, the chronic tension stored in our bodies can be removed. Trauma-informed yoga can greatly reduce the power that a sexual assault holds over our everyday lives and can help to find recovery, and guide healing.
The healing mind, body, and soul yoga sessions blend movement, breath, yogic philosophy, and affirmations. Benefits of trauma-informed yoga include exploring and strengthening our body and minds, establishing connections and boundaries, deepening trust, increasing coping skills, reducing PTSD symptoms, and helping to find peace while nourishing healing.
